RE: another ET moment

Someone near you may have the same TV, or at least a similar enough one to unintentionally control your TV. Sounds silly, but it happens.

RE: Does Anyone Save Aluminum Cans For Recycle Dollars?

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone's city took all those aluminum cans to the scrap yard for money, and gave everyone a break on their tax bill! Recycling actually costs most cities money. Labor costs are higher than return in most cases. Our city recycles paper, plastic, cans and glass. They also charge us $1.65 a bag for garbage plus a regular monthly garbage bill. Landfill costs. I caught something about that on the news last night. I think it was San Francisco that was saying that they were going to have to start charging people for trash pickup, since they are making less money on the recyclables. They depend on the income from the scrap cans etc, and with more people getting the $$ themselves, the city is losing money.

RE: I care less about the law

No, I don't understand why your driving around in your empty Bronco was unsafe? bumpy It would only be unsafe if OJ was in the back seat. ;)

RE: Sigh - puppy HATES the crate

My wife gave in to Dalton when he was a pup, and let him sleep on the bed. 90 lbs later, he still sleeps on the bed. I made the same mistake. Wife and I got our first puppy "Carrie". We got home and had the day with her. We had full intention of having her crated at night. Wife left for work that first night. I put dog in crate then went to bed. Puppy whined and cried, I just wanted to sleep. Dog slept in bed with me...I caved. She slept in our bed for 2 years, till we got second dog "Ace". She has not slept with us since...Carrie now sleeps with our son. Better him than me! :)

RE: Towing ball lubrication - Yes or No ?

I own three trailers, and have never greased the ball. My pop up is in its 12th season. I have owned it for 9 years. Mostly small trips, but one 2500 mile round trip. My snowmobile trailer is in at least its 10th season (not exactly sure). I don't use it all that much, and no long trips. My PWC trailer is in it's 10th season, I have owned it for 7 years. Mostly short trips. All 3 trailers pivot and turn just fine, with no squeaks, moans or groans. Should you grease? I will leave that up to you. I suppose it can't hurt (not counting greasy pants). And non of the trailers you mention have near the tongue weight or tow weight of many travel trailers. My grandfather towed his boats forever without lube. Guess what? His hitch ball was always rusting and had the chrome scraped from them. I have had three TT's, used grease on each and have the same ball. When I wipe the grease off, the ball looks almost new. My TT manufacturer recommends grease as does Reese and all it's subsidiaries. Do the people who make the stuff not know what they are talking about? I never said anything about travel trailers. I made it clear in my post the trailer types I was referring to. And if you read the last line of my post, you will notice that I said it wouldn't hurt to grease it. I hate these types of arguments. We have had different real-world results, with different types of trailers. That's the way life is, no two situations are alike. Take the advice you get, figure out which applies best in your situation, and go from there.

RE: Anyone else use a tarp under there awning?

We usually lay a tarp down, and lay the indoor/outdoor carpet over it. Really helps keep the sand/dirt out of the PUP.

RE: Cleaning roof

It's the aluminum roof with all the dimples. It traps dirt like crazy. I use Armor All car wash detergent to wash our vehicles and the sides of the camper, but that stuff doesn't have the cleaning power to get rid of the dirt on the roof I have used Greased Lightning on similar roof with good results using a stiff brush.

Exciting stuff, can't wait to see him throw more interceptions! He is the NFL career interception leader afterall! Never read about that stat though.

RE: Watch What You Do in Your Front Yard!

I was playing around with street view for the area around where I work, since my home is not yet available on street view. While "cruising" down the road, a female jogger was jogging by. Was kinda funny, as she is someone who works where I work. Doesn't hurt that she is relatively attractive too! ;)

RE: Anyone use an Add-A-Room?

If you've got the privacy panels opened up, then it's basically a screen room. We've never had smells stay inside ours. The propane is far enough away from it that it doesn't bother me at all. Here's a shot of our PUP with the AAR in place. You can see how it darn near doubles our bug-free, dry and shaded living area. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm192/jtbeck_2008/Cape%20San%20Blas%202008/V0000101.jpg I have to say that this site had almost ZERO shade, in Florida, and it was miserable setting up the AAR that day. But it rained like crazy about 3 hours later and we were VERY glad we had it set up. Just dropped down the privacy panels, and everything stayed dry. Hey, that looks familiar! ;) I love our AAR, but we don't use it unless we know it is going to rain or if we are staying more than 2 nights. I have the same AAR as jtbeck, and my only complaint is that I wish the privacy shades were on the outside of the screen room as it would be easier to keep the rain outside.

RE: I-65 stole my beer

You should keep your beer on ice in a cooler when travelling. The ice gives the beer a nice cushion when getting bounced around. ;)

RE: Pet things we learn the hard way!

If you leave the door to your pop up open while you are packing, your cat will jump in before you close it up and go for vacation. Marthas Vineyard stowaway kitty. One dog is manageable, but likes to have a buddy. Carrie didn't mind being a loner, but wife just had to get her a "friend". Two dogs are enough for one house. Ace is a bit strange, but he and Carrie got along fine. Three dogs is one too many dogs for one house. Pirate had to be the dominant dog. Carrie hates him, Ace is afraid of him. All 3 are Dalamatians. Help me. Oh, what did I learn? I learned that next time the wife suggests we get another dog, I WILL say no.

RE: TT accident in NH

Well no where in the article does it talk about what caused the accident other then to say there was a sway event. If in fact there was a sway event all the driver had to do was reach down to the RV brake controller and apply full trailer brakes without letting up on the accelerator and this would have pulled the TT back in line and ended the sway event altogether, preventing the accident altogether. If sway in fact was the cause! The fact that he didn’t use his seat belt if they are not required in the State of NH says more for the State then the driver. Maybe the Governor of this Joke of a State should get sued by the Family. Note to self never go to NH! Don I agree. The fact that a state does not require use of seat belts is a great reason to not go there. :R

RE: TT accident in NH

The only thing that I know of that he did wrong was not wearing his seatbelt. Mike Where in the article does it say he did something wrong? Improper hitch set up? I didn't see that. Some of you need to contact the NH State Police to give them your expert opinions! Well, you would consider that to be wrong...but it is not a law in NH.

RE: 10 Billion miles less

By my calculations, that means that 50 MILLION fewer gallons of gas were consumed (based on an average 20 mpg). Where is all that extra gas? Why haven't prices dropped?
